Only 4 weeks left before MWC 2011

January 17, 2011

That’s only 20 working days to go!

If you’re planning to go to the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona next month, then you’d better get your skates on because there are only four whole weeks left to go. That equates to 20 working days. Today also marks the start of the pre-MWC season with an event organised by the UK’s Trade & Investment government body for journalists. They’ve lined up some 20 leading British companies so that journalists will be able to talk one-to-one to these exhibitors and get relevant stories in advance of the show. And how’s this for piggybacking? The Barcelona Summit starts on the 18th February which is the Friday and the day after MWC officially closes.

Some of the names at the UK T&I event being held today (February 17th) are well-known to Countdown2MWC. They include the likes of femtocell specialist, Ubiquisys and Masabi which specialises in mobile ticketing using 2D barcodes and NFC.

New names to us include Upstreamwhich is a mobile research and marketing company. And here’s a great name for a mobile location app company – Shhmooze.

The other must attend event for journalists is the CCgroup pre-MWC drinks evening which is always fun. It’s in Hanway Street again and if you’re a hack but haven’t been invited better get hold of Paul Nolan quick. This is his email.

The Barcelona Summit claims to be the leading European international B2B conference for the online entertainment industries. It takes place between February 18th and 21st. Entrance appears to cost €269. Register here.

With just four weeks to go, flights and accommodation will be getting hard to find. You could always try Barcelona Business Pass (BBP) which is the official accommodation agency for MWC. The MWC travel web site is here.
