Show guide and Barcelona transportation

Talk about leaving it to almost the last minute! News has just come through that the GSMA has released two very important apps for those attending the MWC 2011 show in Barcelona next week [February 14th 2011]. One is the Mobile Guide App for Mobile World Congress 2011. The other is a transport map which should help you find your way to all those parties going on at the MWC show. The find-your-way-around-Barcelona app has been created by the city’s very own Transports Metropolitans de Barcelona. This should help you locate the quickest way to anywhere in the city of Barcelona via public transportation. The URL to download it is here. It appears to be available only for the Apple iPhone and Android handsets.

Much better news on the Mobile Guide App front. It is available for most mobile platforms including: – Android, iPhone, Nokia, Symbian and Windows 6.

If your handset isn’t on the list you should still be able access the exhibitor content by pointing your mobile browser at this URL (which is the same one for information on downloading).

When Countdown2MWC downloaded the app to our Motorola Android Defy we had great fun because we couldn’t find it by searching for MWC 2011 on the Market. We  had to follow the links on the Whatamap web site instead.
The Mobile Guideapp was, of course, created in co-operation with Whatamap.

It basically has six basic selections: – maps, events, exhibitors by category, all exhibitors, Mobile World Live (the web site) and My MWC (the show social network).

It’s not strictly an app but most smartphones can read .pdfs (Acrobat) files anyway so you might also want to download the official guide to catering locations here.

No-one has sent us an app outlining to the best tapas bar in the city but we can only live in hope!
