There’s only a week to go before the UK’s premier pre-MWC event aimed at journalists. It’s sponsored by the UKTI and will be taking place on 23rd January 2012. Why bother to attend? Well there will be 20 innovative UK companies on hand to brief the media on what they will be showing the world at MWC 2012 in Barcelona. Countdown2MWC’s own experience shows that most of these firms make the headlines in February so it is a great source of top stories. The companies cover all areas of mobile technology: applications; hardware, business to business; consumer; networking and beyond.

The venue is the UKTI’s conference centre at 1 Victoria Street, London from 1 pm to 3 pm. The only snag is that you do have to be a bona fide member of the Press.

So get hold of the guy who is organising it Chris Bignell of XL Communications and ensure your place at the preview. His details are below.

The event has been tied in with a competition run by the Smart UK project which is rewarding innovation in the UK’s mobile industry.

So, while we can’t tell you exactly which 20 companies will be attending these briefings, we can tell you that the six companies named on the shortlist here http://www.smartukproject.co.uk/the-shortlist will definitely be there.

You can email Chris at xl-comms dot com or call him on his UK mobile: + 44 (0)7834 020460. Or find the company on the web here.
