Q.  Tell us a bit about yourself:

I moved to London back in 2005, having grown up in Boston, and I’ve been involved in journalism ever since graduating from Goldsmiths College. I worked my way around a fair few local newspapers learning the art before entering the tech journalism world roughly two years ago and joining ITProPortal.com as an intern. Since then, I’ve risen to senior writer and am looking forward to the future.

Q. Tell us a little bit about the title you write for and their interest in mobile technology:

Mobile became my primary beat pretty much as soon as I joined ITProPortal.com and I’ve been developing and refining my knowledge ever since. I’ve learned from some great people and am now enjoying tutoring some our younger writers in the finer points of processors, displays, and operating systems. We try to position ourselves as a unique proposition, covering mobile from a more business, enterprise, and IT relevant perspective than some of our competitiors.

Q. What’s hot in mobiles and telecoms this year?

There’s a number of key trends in mobile this year, including the rise and rise of the phablet, but what’s potentially the game changer is wearable tech. In my opinion, no one has really got it right yet, but it is likely to happen. The key for me will be when the style element begins to match the functionality – for example, when I can have Google Glass-like features built into my Ray-Bans. The features are developing quickly and hopefully the fashion element will catch up soon. Read the rest of this entry ?

Interview with @TelecomCircle Founder & Editor Mohit Agrawal

July 31, 2012

By @Rose_at_O, @Olivia_at_O

Mohit Agrawal is Founder and Editor of Telecom Circle, a popular telecoms industry blog and an open networking organisation for communications, media and advertising industry professionals. It fosters cooperation and business development through virtual and live networking events to share ideas, best practices and trends.

Mohit is a telecom professional with rich experience of over 15 years. His expertise is in the area of strategy and planning, and his work experience includes stints with two Big 5 consulting organisations, a telecom operator and a handset vendor. He is an alumnus of London Business School, IMT-Ghaziabad and IIT-BHU, Varanasi.

Q.  Tell us a bit about yourself:

I am a daydreamer. I love to see the big picture, and probably for that reason I am strategist with a large mobile handset company. I also like to share my learning and experiences, and hence have been blogging for the last three years. When I am not working, I like to run around with my five-year-old kid, who is a bundle of joy and energy.

Q. Tell us a little bit about your blog and its interest in mobile technology

My blog is Telecom Circle, and it focuses on the mobile and internet space. I write few articles, but write them after a lot of industry research. The blog is followed by readers who are interested in industry data and trends. I have been blogging for three years, and I got interested in blogging as a hobby soon after an executive development programme at London Business School.  The blog has attracted a decent following with over 20,000 visits per month, and it has managed to generate a small profit as well (thanks to advertising).

Q. What’s hot in mobiles and telecoms this year?

This year the key trend is likely to be Read the rest of this entry ?

Android app allows cheap texting from Barcelona

February 14, 2011

Avoid text roaming charges
by Hans Cett (@HansCett)

Countdown2MWC has discovered a handy app for Android handsets. It appears to have been created by a Barcelona firm, N2manager and is ideal for those attending MWC 2011 in that city. Although its main function is to help users manage all of their text messages, it hooks users into an alternative SMS messaging network. Users will only have to pay a mere € 6.5 (Euro) cents to send a text anywhere in the world. It won’t work only with those connected to a handful of US mobile network operators. If you want to learn more take a look at this review on GoMo News.
